I Never Thought Crossdressing Would Make Me Become Transgender—Bobrisky. Popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has revealed the reason behind his decision to transition from male to female.
The controversial media personality explained that he initially began cross-dressing as part of a marketing strategy.
During an interview with veteran entertainer Charly Boy, Bobrisky disclosed that while he was studying at the University of Lagos, he was selling unisex clothing. To market his products effectively, he began cross-dressing.
The crossdresser mentioned that he did not anticipate that his initial venture into crossdressing would eventually lead to him identifying as transgender.
He elaborated, “Around nine years ago, while studying accounting at the University of Lagos, I was also involved in selling unisex clothing.
Sometimes, I would try on the female clothing myself and find that I enjoyed wearing it.
“As more women started patronising my business, I expanded into female hairstyles and makeup.
With the increasing success of my business, I made the decision to continue cross-dressing, recognising its profitability.”
“I wasn’t thinking I was going to do it for a very long time. Initially, it was just a marketing strategy, but people were complimenting me, saying that I look better as a woman than a man. That’s how I ended up being Bobrisky.”
He said he faced resistance from his parents initially, but they eventually allowed him to be himself.
